The Yelm Prairie Arts Association (YPAA) is a non-profit organization serving to enrich the lives of the people in Yelm and surrounding communities by creating an environment in which the arts flourish.
We provide quality programming by supporting groups who dance, make music, create live theater and enhance arts in education in our community schools.

We spread the word about our area’s performing arts and visual arts groups, sponsor events and participate in activities for the general public.

We organize fund raising events and provide funding to visual & performing arts groups. We operate with the intent to provide an even balance of annual funding to enable performing arts programs and enhanced arts education for our community members.

Make Art a Part of Your Life!

This is an excellent time to be part of YPAA!  The Yelm Area Art Walk is a regular event and growing in participation each year.  We are continuing our focus on enhanced arts education in the Yelm Community Schools.  YPAA support enables enhanced performing arts programs for young people in our area.  Looking forward, we are working to gain grants to expand creative afterschool programs for young people in the Yelm area.

The following are samples of a few of the events and groups our fund raising efforts have helped to support:

    • ACT 2 through ACT 7 of the Yelm Community Consortia operating under the Yelm Community Schools. Matching funds to support a renewable grant from the Washington State Arts Commission to provide artists in residence and enhanced visual art experiences in Yelm schools and community from the 2002-2003 through the current 2008-2009 school years.
    • Yelm Area Art Walk – One week each year featuring visual art displays in local area businesses, plus various hands-on art workshops and performance events
    • Improvable Dream Workshop for young people – 2007
    • Theatrical Academy spring 2008 performance of “A High School Musical”
    • Ian Mardon - Violin concert at Yelm HS Performing Arts Center – winter 2008
    • Yelm Middle School - Artist in Residence

Arts are the heart and soul of a civilization.  Creative opportunities and experiences make our town and surrounding communities distinctive as places where people want to visit and live.  We've made significant steps over the last 15 years, yet there the vision continues to grow.
Please join us to help create the hometown and region we all wish for our children, our neighbors and ourselves. If you would like to find a way to contribute and make a difference in our community, click here. Please feel free to contact us by email, or, send regular mail to:
